H.M. Konungens tacktal

vid delstatsregeringens middag i Adelaide

Australien

(Det talade ordet gäller)

Your Excellency, Premier Mike Rann
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for your warm welcome and for your hospitality tonight. The Queen and I are delighted to be here in South Australia for the first time.

We started our day with the opening of the photo exhibition “Herbarium Amoris". I can truly recommend it to all of you who have not yet seen it. We are glad that the photographer himself, Mr Edvard Koinberg, is here with us tonight. Thank you for a fine exhibition honouring our world famous Swedish scientist Carl von Linnaeus.

Following that, I had the opportunity to visit two successful Adelaide high tech companies, Origin Energy and Saab Systems. I really enjoyed the dedication of the respective companies to their tasks of developing the utmost quality of their products.

During the day the Queen has visited the innovative learning environment at Klemzig Primary School where hearing and hearing impaired children study together. She has also visited the Dementia Research and Services Centre in order to learn from the experiences and ideas at the centre. The Queen is truly impressed by the commitment shown by the highly dedicated staff at both institutions. In Australia as well as Sweden we are proud of the efforts put into their social welfare systems. We can learn from each other in order to reach even further.

The programme also allowed us a visit to the Barossa Valley and its famous wine industry, which I believe we all enjoyed very much.

Let me propose a toast to our generous hosts!

Skål and thank you!
