Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel to make official visit to United Kingdom

From 29 November to 1 December, Their Royal Highnesses The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel will visit the UK together with Minister for Defence Pål Jonson and Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson.

The visit will take place at the request of the Government. The aim of the visit is to strengthen and promote the longstanding and excellent relations between Sweden and the UK.

The aim is also to highlight enhanced cooperation in the areas of security and defence, the green transition, innovation and research, and increased exchanges within the business sector – all included in the recently signed Swedish-British strategic partnership.

Wednesday 29 November

Visit to Ukrainian soldiers, East of England

The visit will begin when The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel and Mr Jonson meet with Ukrainian soldiers who are being trained in the UK by Swedish soldiers within the framework of Operation Interflex.

Pub lunch, Woodditton, Cambridgeshire

At lunchtime, The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel will meet a pub owner to discuss English pub culture and listen to a presentation about East Anglia.

Visit to Imperial College Translation & Innovation Hub (I-HUB), London W12

The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel, Mr Jonson and State Secretary at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Håkan Jevrell will visit White City Campus, which is part of the Imperial College and under construction. This will include a visit to NATO’s Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA), which focuses on how to accelerate innovation in the areas of defence and security.

Reception in connection with International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council elections, Ambassador’s residence, London W1

In the evening, The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel and Mr Carlson will attend a reception at the Swedish residence in light of Sweden’s candidacy to become a member of the IMO Council.

Dinner with sustainability theme, National History Museum, London SW7

Later that same evening, The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel will be guests of honour at a dinner hosted by Business Sweden and the Embassy focusing on sustainability, innovation and security for British and Swedish businesses, and the importance of progress in the climate negotiations during COP28. Mr Carlson and Mr Jevrell will also attend the dinner.

Thursday 30 November

Breakfast with Swedish start-up, German Gymnasium, King’s Cross, London N1

On Thursday morning, The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel, Mr Carlson and Mr Jevrell will meet representatives of the Swedish business Mindler to learn from their experience in establishing a business in the UK.

Meeting with Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales, Windsor Castle, Windsor

In the morning, The Prince and Princess of Wales will receive The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel at Windsor Castle.

Visit to Kew Gardens, Richmond

In the afternoon, The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel and Mr Carlson will visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Richmond to learn about international research projects promoting biodiversity. At Kew Gardens, The Crown Princess will also plant a tree to commemorate the visit.

Swedish-British Summit: Outer Thinking, Nobu Hotel, London W1

In the afternoon, The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel, Mr Carlson and Mr Jevrell will attend a conference hosted by the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK in London, where British and Swedish representatives of businesses, academia and politics will speak.

Royal Variety Performance with Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales, Royal Albert Hall, London SW7

On Thursday evening, the Royal Variety Performance will be held at Royal Albert Hall. The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel will attend at the invitation of The Prince and Princess of Wales. The show, which is televised in the UK, is held annually to support British cultural practitioners and entertainers.

Friday 1 December

Visit to Cranfield University, School of Aerospace and Digital Aviation Research Technology Centre, Cranfield, Bedfordshire

On Friday, The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel and Mr Carlson will visit Cranfield University. There, they will learn more about Swedish-British cooperation between academia and the business sector related to the green transition and future transport.

Life science lunch, Ambassador’s residence, London W1

Lunch at the Swedish residence, which will be attended by British politicians and representatives of the business sector and academia. This event will highlight the cooperation that has taken place within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Life Sciences between the UK and Sweden that was signed in 2022.

Advent fika with Swedes living in London, Church of Sweden, London W1

To highlight the first Sunday of Advent, The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel will visit the Church of Sweden in London, where they will meet Swedes who live in the British capital for an advent-style fika (coffee). The visit to the church will conclude their official visit to the UK.
