I have only been in Hong Kong for a little more than a day. But I think you will agree with me: It only takes a minute to be swept off your feet by the energy of this colourful city.

As one of the most innovative places in Asia, Hong Kong attracts talent from all over the world. It welcomes new knowledge, new people and new ideas. This openness leads to a unique atmosphere.

Chief Executive Carrie Lam has wisely identified the creative industries as a future driver of economic growth. This sector is also an important part of the Swedish export strategy. I am convinced that there is much to gain from working together.

As you may know, Sweden is a proud former partner of Hong Kong's Business of Design Week. We were actually the first country to be chosen twice for this important partnership.

Tomorrow I will visit the Business of Design Week and the opening of the Swedish pavilion, together with the outstanding design delegation travelling with us. I look very much forward to this opportunity to showcase my country’s knowledge in innovative and sustainable design.

Speaking of sustainability… this tuxedo from a well-known Swedish brand was made entirely out of recycled materials. I realize it might not be customary to attend a gala dinner dressed in “old rags” … but thanks to Swedish designers I am hoping to get away with it.

I would also like to say how proud I am to be travelling with the first Swedish ed tech delegation ever!

Tech companies are known to move fast, but these guys really seem to have hit the ground running: Yesterday, Swedish EdTech Industry and Hong Kong’s EdCity signed a MoU that will further increase our cooperation in this field.

Smart ed tech solutions are not only transforming the learning economy. They are also opening up new possibilities for students with dyslexia and other learning issues.

Being dyslectic myself, I am proud to see Swedish companies helping young people realize their true potential.
