Accelerator is an exhibition space where art, science and societal issues come together. Accelerator is also part of Stockholm University, and its mission is to engage actively with society.

The Crown Princess Couple were welcomed by Artistic Director Richard Julin, Professor of Art History and Administrative Director Mårten Snickare, and Communications and Development Officer Tove Nilsson.

Richard Julin then spoke about the background to Accelerator, its aim, its history, and the link with contemporary history and research.

After this introduction, The Crown Princess Couple had the opportunity to visit the exhibition The Experimental Field.

The exhibition also includes a historic section with older art.

The Experimental Field was the name of an agricultural research experiment initiated in the early 19th century at Frescati, where Stockholm University and Accelerator are now located.

The exhibition presents eight contemporary art practices which experiment with ways of living, agriculture and society building – the great social challenges of the future.
