Prince Alexander was carried in Karl XV's cradle. The cradle was made for the birth of Prince Karl (XV) in 1826 to a design by Court Architect Per Axel Nyström. The cradle was used as an everyday cradle for Prince Karl and his brothers Gustav and Oskar.
Before the christening of Princess Eugénie in 1830, a new cradle tradition was introduced and Prince Karl's everyday cradle became the princesses' ceremonial cradle. It was then stood on Georg Haupt's ceremonial podium, just as it was at Princess Madeleine's christening in 1982, Princess Leonore's christening in 2014, Prince Nicolas' christening in 2015 and Prince Oscar's christening in 2016.
