The officiating clergy at the wedding of Prince Carl Philip and Miss Sofia Hellqvist on Saturday 13 June 2015 will be the Right Reverend Lars-Göran Lönnermark, Bishop Emeritus and Chief Court Chaplain, and the Reverend Michael Bjerkhagen, Court Chaplain and Rector of the Royal Court Parish.
The Right Reverend Lars-Göran Lönnermark and the Reverend Michael Bjerkhagen will officiate at the wedding of Prince Carl Philip and Miss Sofia Hellqvist on Saturday 13 June 2015. Both officiating clergy are connected through their duties to the Royal Court and the Royal Court Parish, of which the Royal Chapel at the Royal Palace of Stockholm is the main church.
The King, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Madeleine and Princess Estelle were all baptised in the Royal Chapel.
The last time a royal wedding took place in the Royal Chapel was on 8 June 2013, when Princess Madeleine and Mr. Christopher O’Neill were married. In 1974, The King’s sister Princess Christina, Mrs. Magnuson was married in the Royal Chapel.
Since the time of Magnus Ladulås in the late 13th century there has been not only a chapel at the Royal Palace of Stockholm, but also a clergy and in due course a parish, which today is called the Royal Court Parish.
The present Royal Chapel was consecrated on 8 December 1754 in the presence of King Adolf Fredrik, Queen Lovisa Ulrika and Crown Prince Gustav, later King Gustav III. The Royal Chapel remains relatively unchanged since then.
