On 12–13 October 2017, President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan will visit Sweden at the invitation of HM The King. Several Swedish Government ministers will be involved.
Kazakhstan is one of the Government's 26 prioritised countries for trade and business promotion. There is potential to further increase trade. Kazakhstan is implementing sweeping changes in several sectors of society and there is considerable interest in Swedish solutions, including within sustainable urban planning, which will be one of the areas in focus during the visit.
In 2017 and 2018, both Sweden and Kazakhstan hold non-permanent seats on the United Nations Security Council. There is a common interest in dialogue and cooperation on the issues on the Security Council agenda and on issues of security and development in Central Asia and for disarmament and non-proliferation.
The two-day visit will take place in Stockholm.
Further information about the programme and participants will be published closer to the time of the visit.
