On Monday 6 April, The King spoke to the Prime Minister by telephone for an update on the Swedish Government's work in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Constitution Act, the Prime Minister is responsible for ensuring that the Head of State is kept informed about matters concerning the nation. The King and the Prime Minster are in closer contact than normal as a result of the extraordinary circumstances in which Sweden currently finds itself.

The Royal Family and the COVID-19 pandemic

The Royal Family are keen to show their support for the initiatives being carried out by society to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Royal Family are staying informed about how the pandemic is affecting Sweden via discussions, digital meetings and visits.

These visits are planned based on current recommendations, and every effort is being made not to take up time and resources unnecessarily.
