On Sunday 8 September, The King presented the Grand Sixten Gemzéus Music Scholarship to conductor Emil Eliasson during a ceremony in the Hall of State at the Royal Palace.

The scholarship is worth SEK 500,000, making it Sweden's biggest national music scholarship.

This year's scholarship recipient, conductor Emil Eliasson, has been involved in many operas and takes part in many productions, including with the Royal Swedish Opera, Stockholm Symphony Orchestra and Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, as well as international productions in Zurich and London.

During the ceremony in the Hall of State at the Royal Palace, music was performed by the Stockholm Student Singers, mezzosoprano Beatrice Orler and tenor Tobias Westman, and Emil Eliasson conducted musicians from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Court Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
