On Monday 27 May, The King and Queen attended the SIPRI Lecture at Musikaliska in Stockholm.
This year's lecturer was the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and Chile's former President HE Michelle Bachelet, who spoke on the subject 'Peace, development, human rights and gender equality – the story of my life'. In her lecture, she described how she works to promote peace, human rights and gender equality.
The lecture was followed by a panel discussion featuring Ambassador Jan Eliasson and HE Michelle Bachelet, moderated by Director of SIPRI Dan Smith.
SIPRI (the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute) works to contribute towards a wider understanding of peaceful solutions to international conflicts and sustainable peace. In connection with this, an annual lecture has been held since 2018 at which peace and security are discussed.
