On Wednesday 6 October, The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel visited Örebro County to highlight initiatives being carried out in connection with the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Crown Princess Couple's visit took place in Örebro Municipality, and was hosted by County Governor Maria Larsson.

The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel began their visit with a meeting at Örebro Castle, together with representatives from the county administrative board, the region and industry. They spoke about how the pandemic has affected the county's various operations and residents.

Vaccination centre

The Crown Princess Couple then visited Boglundsängen vaccination centre in Vivalla, Örebro. There, healthcare personnel described how they have worked to provide information about vaccination by working in several different languages, having a presence within society and in residential areas, and working together with the county administrative board.

The Crown Princess Couple also learnt about the work relating to care hygiene, and spoke with workers from the mobile team who visit patients in their homes and provide advice.

Representatives from Region Örebro County described their Covid testing work. To streamline the resting process, residents can collect testing kits outside clinics without having to book an appointment.

Behrn Arena

At lunchtime, The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel visited Behrn Arena. There, they spoke with representatives from Örebro Hockey, the Swedish Sports Confederation and the Swedish Sports Education Organisation, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Lerbäck Theatre and Spångberg Choir, who described how the pandemic has affected sport, culture and associations.

City Mission

The afternoon began with The Crown Princess Couple visiting City Mission's food centre. The centre works with food shops in Örebro to deal with left-over food, which is then distributed to those in need in the form of food parcels. During their visit, The Crown Princess Couple learnt that demand for these food parcels grew significantly during the pandemic.

Tulläng Upper Secondary School

The day concluded with a visit to Tulläng Upper Secondary School, which is also a national upper secondary school for deaf and hearing-impaired students. There, The Crown Princess Couple met employees and students who talked about how distance teaching has worked during the pandemic.

The Royal Family visit Sweden's counties

In connection with the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, members of the Royal Family will be visiting Sweden's 21 counties at the initiative of HM The King.

The first four visits took place in autumn 2020, but subsequent visits were postponed due to the second wave of the pandemic.

Through these visits, The King hopes to show the Royal Family's solidarity with those who have been affected and to highlight local initiatives within different sectors of society.

The following future visits to Sweden's counties have been planned:

October

  • Thursday 7 October: Prince Carl Philip will visit Gotland County
  • Tuesday 12 October: Prince Carl Philip will visit Östergötland County
  • Thursday 14 October: The King and Queen will visit Jönköping County
  • Friday 15 October: The Crown Princess Couple will visit Kronoberg County
  • Thursday 28 October: The King and Queen will visit Halland County

November

  • Thursday 11 November: The Crown Princess Couple will visit Dalarna County
  • Friday 26 November: The Crown Princess Couple will visit Skåne County
  • Monday 29 November: The King and Queen will visit Jämtland County
