The Crown Princess attends the SKYDD 2018 trade fair

On Tuesday 23 October, The Crown Princess attended the SKYDD 2018 safety and security trade fair, where she presented the Golden Firepost award to this year's winner, the Greater Stockholm Fire Service.

The Crown Princess was welcomed to SKYDD 2018. From the stage, moderators Christer Nyberg and Magnus Krantz explained to visitors about the newly established Golden Firepost award to recognise the fire and rescue service of the year. The aim is to promote development, innovation and excellent cooperation within the fire and rescue service organisation.

This year's nominated finalists were:

  • Höganäs Fire and Rescue Service
  • Södra Älvsborg Rescue Service Association
  • The Greater Stockholm Fire Service

The Crown Princess was invited onto the stage, where she presented the award to the Greater Stockholm Fire Service. The award consists of a golden firepost, together with an explanatory plaque. The idea is that the firepost should be installed and used in operations, while recognising the winner.

After the prize-giving ceremony, The Crown Princess took part in a networking session in the Blue Light Lounge together with representatives from organisations including SKYDD and Swedish Firefighter.

SKYDD

SKYDD is Northern Europe's leading trade fair within safety, security and fire rescue. The event was first held in 1969. This year's trade fair attracted around 3,000 visitors and 250 exhibitors.

The Golden Firepost award was established by Swedish Firefighter, an industry publication targeted at politicians, rescue services, fire authorities and firefighters. The aim is to recognise rescue services that carry out extraordinary work in their day-to-day operations.

The award was established at the beginning of 2018, and will be presented annually.
