State visit from Italy – day 2

The state visit from Italy continued on Wednesday 14 November. The agenda included visits to Epicenter, Ericsson Studio and the National Museum.

Epicenterexternal link, opens in new window in Stockholm's Norrmalm district is an innovation house for digital businesses. During their visit, The King and Queen, the President, Laura Mattarella and Minister Peter Eriksson were given a presentation of the centre's operations and had the opportunity to meet representatives from businesses working there.

The morning's second item on the agenda for The King and Queen, the President and Laura Mattarella was a visit to Ericsson Studioexternal link, opens in new window in Kista.

Together with Minister Peter Eriksson, the guests were given a presentation of 5G technology and the special cooperation programme '5G for Italy'. Ericsson has had a presence in Italy since 1918, and is celebrating its centenary in the country this year.

Lunch at Stockholm City Hall

The City of Stockholm hosted lunch in the Prince's Gallery at Stockholm City Hall on Kungsholmen. The lunch was hosted by Chair of the Municipal Council Cecilia Brink and Finance Commissioner Anna König Jerlmyr.

Before lunch, The King and Queen, the President and Laura Mattarella were given a guide tour of Stockholm City Hall, focusing on its links to Italy.

During the afternoon, The King and Queen and their Italian guests visited the National Museum on Blasieholmen in Stockholm. Museum director Dr Susanna Pettersson showed objects from the newly re-opened museum's collections.

In the evening, President Mattarella and Laura Mattarella hosted a reception for The King and Queen at the Italian Cultural Institute in Gärdet. The Crown Princess, Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia also attended.

The Italian Cultural Institute is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and The King and the President opened the reception by unveiling a special memorial plaque. A concert was then given by the Camerata Ducale Orchestra string ensemble.
