On Thursday 11 January, The King and Queen met experts from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs to find out more about Iceland in preparation for the forthcoming state visit.
From 17 to 19 January, Iceland's President Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson will be visiting Sweden at the invitation of The King. President Jóhannesson will be coming to Sweden with his wife, Eliza Jean Reid. The accompanying delegation will include Minister for Foreign Affairs Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson and representatives from Icelandic businesses and organisations.
Ahead of the state visit, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs provided The King and Queen with information about topical issues in Iceland.
The three-day visit will take in the cities of Stockholm and Uppsala. The programme will focus on Iceland and Sweden's shared history, values and culture, as well as sustainability, home building and medical research cooperation.
Information meetings with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs are always held ahead of state visits.
