On Monday 20 December, Princess Madeleine and Mr Christopher O'Neill accepted this year's Christmas trees at the Royal Palace. Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas and Princess Adrienne also took part in the acceptance of Christmas trees.

Since the 1960s, students from the forestry programme at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences have presented Christmas trees to the Royal Palace.

The Nordmann fir is commonly known as 'the King's fir' in Sweden as a result of this tradition.
