The Crown Princess carries out a walk in Värmland

On Friday 17 November, The Crown Princess walked in Glaskogen Nature Reserve in Värmland. The visit to Värmland was the fourth in a series of walks through the provinces of Sweden, which began in September.

The Crown Princess's walk in Värmland and Glaskogen followed a path through nature and culture which is mostly accessible. The walk began at Glaskogen Information Centre in Lenungshammar.

During the walk, The Crown Princess stopped at various points to find out about inventorying predators, nature parkour and tree planting.

Glaskogen Nature Reserve

Glaskogen Nature Reserveexternal link, opens in new window is located in an undulating, lake-filled area bordered by the municipalities of Arvika, Eda, Säffle and Årjäng, in western Värmland. The 80 lakes, meres, streams and associated bogs in the area give the countryside a unique and beautiful wilderness character. The two largest lakes are Stora Gla and Övre Gla.

At Glaskogen, 300 kilometres of walking paths and canoe routes wind through the nature reserve. Elk, hares, foxes, roe deer and lynx are common sights in the area.

Värmland is bordered by Västergötland and Dalsland to the south, Østfold and Hedmark in Norway to the west, and Dalarna, Västmanland and Närke to the east.

The Crown Princess's walks through the provinces of Sweden

In September 2017, The Crown Princess began a series of walks through the provinces of Sweden. The walks through the 25 provinces of Sweden will be carried out over the coming years.

The Crown Princess aims to discover new parts of Sweden during different seasons, and to showcase the wonders of Swedish nature for all those who live and work here.
