On Wednesday 1 June, Prince Daniel presented the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation's major research grant to Professor Magnus Sköld from Karolinska Institutet. Prince Daniel is Honorary Chairman of the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation.
Each year, the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation awards a research grant of SEK 15 million, which is allocated over three years. The grant is awarded for pioneering Swedish cardiopulmonary research which is deemed to be of great significance to patients.
This year's research grant was awarded to Magnus Sköld, Professor of Respiratory Medicine at Karolinska Institutet, for his national research project about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The aim is to find out why non-smokers are affected by the disease.
