On Thursday 25 October, the Young Leadership Foundation held a workshop at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.
The workshop was held together with the Swedish Academy of Board Directors' Golden Gavel Award winner, and the theme was "When leadership is put to the test — values as a compass in a changing world." The workshop began with a talk by Inga-Britt Ahlenius, Under-Secretary-General for the United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services from 2005 to 2010, on "The importance of being rooted in one's values and having strength of integrity". Arne Karlsson, Chairman of the Board of Ratos, then spoke about "Working to maintain good, strong values when the foundation starts to shake". The King's Young Leadership Foundation The Foundation was founded in 2006 in connection with H.M. The King's 60th birthday. Each year, the Foundation presents three scholarships to young leaders: one to a young leader within the public sector, one within the voluntary sector and one within the private sector. The Foundation also finances training for young leaders — Value-based Leadership — which is run by the Scouts. You can find out more about the Foundation here External link, opens in new window.. The Golden Gavel Award The Golden Gavel Award was instituted in 2005 by auditors and consultants Deloitte and the Swedish Academy of Board Directors to clarify and improve awareness of the importance of the role of Chairman of the Board for effective, business-focused board work.
