The King and Queen visit Minneapolis, day 3

On Saturday 6 October, The King and Queen concluded their visit to Minneapolis in the USA.
The day began with a reception at the official residence of Minnesota's Governor Mark Dayton. 150 guests were invited to the reception.
Following the reception, The King and Queen visited the American Swedish Institute where a lunch was held. During lunch, the speakers included Mayor of Minneapolis R.T. Rybak and the USA's ambassador in Stockholm, Mark Brzezinski. The Swedish ambassador in Washington, Jonas Hafström, also gave a speech.
A ceremony was then held at which The King and Queen unveiled a commemorative plaque. The King explained how the former Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf had encouraged the founding of the American Swedish Institute in the late 1920s. You can read The King's speech here Opens in new window..
In the evening, a fundraising dinner was held for the American Swedish Institute.
