On Wednesday 21 November, The Crown Princess Couple visited Fagersta together with Minister for Integration Erik Ullenhag.
The Crown Princess Couple visited Fagersta to find out how Fagersta Municipality works with integration issues. In the morning, The Crown Princess Couple and the Minister for Integration visited Västanfors Homestead Museum, where Municipal Commissioner Stig Henriksson began by talking about Fagersta's integration work. Immigrants including Quamar Xasan, an assistant nurse and chair of the Somali association, then spoke about leaving their children and fleeing, and their experiences of building a new life in a new country. The Crown Princess Couple also visited the Crown Princess Victoria Lock in Västanfors. The Crown Princess named the lock on 24 September 1995 to commemorate the bicentenary of the Strömsholm Canal. The homestead museum's Operational Manager Malin Andersson showed The Crown Princess Couple the lock, together with Municipal Commissioner Stig Henriksson. During the afternoon, The Crown Princess Couple and the Minister for Integration visited Atlas Copco Secoroc's new rock drill plant, where they learnt about how Atlas Copco works with integration. The Crown Princess Couple and the Minister for Integration were then given a tour of the premises and met employees.
