On Thursday 10 March, The Crown Princess Couple began their second day in Malmö with a visit to the House of Dreams and YUMP Academy in Rosengård.
The House of Dreams was founded in 1990, and offers cultural activities for almost 35,000 children, young people and adults, primarily in Rosengård. It is funded by patrons who share its belief that the world can be changed through culture. The Crown Princess Couple then visited YUMP Academy, where they were given a presentation of the academy's work. YUMP Academy supports young people, mainly from the suburbs, in entrepreneurship. A small number of talented young individuals are hand-picked to receive six months of help making the transition from idea to concept/company with growth potential. They then receive support from Sweden's leading advisors. The Crown Princess Couple then visited Augustenborg Eco-City. Here they were met by Augustenborg School's music classes, after which they walked around the residential area. The visit concluded at Gnistan after-school club. Augustenborg Eco-City is a major project to convert the 1950s district into a more socially, financially and ecologically sustainable residential area. Lunch was served at Malmo City Hall, where The Crown Princess Couple were given a tour. The afternoon began with a visit to Malmö Sports Academy at Swedbank Stadium. The Crown Princess Couple were given an introduction to the academy followed by a tour of the stadium, where they were shown Atleticum (an indoor athletics hall), the Baltic Training Hall and the Sports Museum. The aim of the academy is to be the leading centre of excellence for performance sports. Young people aged between 13 and 19 are offered the ideal setting in which to combine sports and studies, through Malmö Sports School and Malmö Upper-Secondary Sports School. The Crown Princess Couple then visited the RGRA music studio. Rapper Behrang Miri explained how the work carried out by RGRA is like an alternative youth council, focusing on alternative general education, encouraging young people to influence their everyday lives through hip-hop and rap. Afterwards, The Crown Princess Couple visited artist Marie-Louise Kold External link, opens in new window., who works with copper, brass and bronze, using techniques such as engraving and etching. The afternoon was rounded off with a visit to Enighet, a gymnastics and athletics club. Enighet's efforts for integration have been important to the association's development. This is a modern martial arts association, and the combination of excellence and breadth has made Enighet a leader within most of the sporting disciplines practised here. In the evening, County Governor Göran Tunhammar hosted a dinner at the governor's official residence.
