On Thursday 21 October, The Crown Princess Couple began their visit to Västergötland.
The Crown Princess Couple started their first joint visit to their duchy of Västergötland by travelling to Almnäs Bruk External link, opens in new window., near Hjo. Almnäs Bruk is Sweden's largest fully organic farm, and a cheese factory opened here two years ago.

The Crown Princess Couple helped to make Wrångebäck cheese, which was first made in 1860, making this Sweden's oldest variety of cheese that is still in production.

They then made their way to Hjo Town Hall, where they enjoyed a musical performance in the square below from the second-floor balcony.

From Hjo, The Crown Princess Couple continued to Karlsborg. First they visited Karlsborg Fortress and listened to a brief talk about the history of the fortress. They then visited the garrison church. Up until 1925, the church was intended to be used as the Parliament's assembly hall in the event of war.

While in Karlsborg Municipality, The Crown Princess Couple also visited Forsvik, a fascinating mill setting alongside the Göta Canal which features both an industrial heritage and beautiful, unusual scenery.

After Forsvik, The Crown Princess Couple moved on to Tibro where they visited the newly-opened Tibro Action Park and met young skateboarders and BMX bikers.

In the evening, County Governor Lars Bäckström and his wife Ann-Christin hosted a dinner at their official residence of Marieholm in Mariestad.
