H.K.H. Prins Carl Philips tal vid invigningen av World Bioenergy 2014, Jönköping, tisdagen den 3 juni 2014

(Det talade ordet gäller)

Ladies and gentlemen,

I am honoured to be the patron of World Bioenergy 2014.

Energy supply is one of the world's major issues. And we know that it creates a lot of tension. That is why global conferences, such as the World Bioenergy 2014, are so essential.

Sweden is rich in natural resources. Timber, steel, and hydropower formed the foundation for our prosperity.

In recent decades, we learned to use the forest and wind power in a modern way – to generate renewable energy. A few years ago, renewable resources accounted for more than half of our total energy consumption. A trend that I am very proud of.

We have come far, but we are not there yet. Politicians, entrepreneurs, scientists, and citizens must all take responsibility. And that is why global discussions – like those at the World Bioenergy Conference – are so crucial. Through relationships and information sharing, we carry the energy torch and keep it burning.

This year's conference motto is "Taking you from the know-how to show-how". So I would be very happy if World Bioenergy 2014 became a catalyst for transforming smart ideas and inventions into concrete actions and applications.

I feel very strong about the environment, so it's very rewarding to welcome you all to three interesting days in Jönköping. I wish you good luck with your continued efforts to develop sustainable bioenergy solutions.

I hereby declare the 2014 World Bioenergy Conference open.
