The King holds formal audiences
On 24 August, The King received four new ambassadors during formal audiences at the Royal Palace.
It is accepted international practice that a new ambassador in a country is always given the opportunity to meet the head of state, although the ceremonies vary in different countries. In Sweden, the reception of a foreign envoy follows a traditional ceremony, and is quite unique with its centuries old traditions.
The foreign envoys received by The King during the formal audiences were:
- Ambassador Mehdi Hasan from the People's Republic of Bangladesh
- Ambassador Daniel Ionita from Romania
- Ambassador Yönet Can Tezel from the Republic of Turkey
- Ambassador Tucapel Jiménez from the Republic of Chile
Orders
When The King received the Chilean ambassador, he wore the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit with Chain. During the audience with the Romanian envoy, The King wore the Romanian Order of the Star with Chain. Finally, the Order of the State of the Republic of Turkey was worn during the audience with the Turkish ambassador.
