International symposium on dyslexia at the Royal Palace
On 27 April, The Queen, Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia, Princess Beatrice of York and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took part in the World Dyslexia Assembly Sweden. The aim of the international symposium was to raise awareness of – and influence the image of – dyslexia.
The World Dyslexia Assembly was arranged by The Prince Couple's Foundation in partnership with the British organisation Made By Dyslexia, for which Princess Beatrice of York is an ambassador.
The day brought together international and national players from the education sector, industry and research. The Swedish Government was represented by the Minister for Schools.
Prince Carl Philip opened the symposium with a speech, in which he said:
While I have had some struggles, I have been fortunate enough to receive proper help. To be met with knowledge and understanding. To be included.
Unfortunately, not all children with dyslexia are that lucky.”

The day then continued with four panel discussions under the following headings:
- Empowering dyslexic thinking in the workplace
- Empowering dyslexic thinking in education
- Empowering dyslexic thinking in youth
- Empowering your dyslexic thinking
The Prince Couple's Foundation
The foundation was formed to mark The Prince Couple's wedding in June 2015. Its vision is that all children and young people should have the opportunity to be themselves.
The foundation works within the fields of online safety and dyslexia.
