The Crown Princess receives the Swedish Woman of the Year Award 2021
On Thursday 9 September, The Crown Princess received the Swedish Woman of the Year Award 2021 from SWEA International at Millesgården on Lidingö.
SWEA is the largest non-profit organisation promoting Sweden outside the country, and is an association for Swedish-speaking women who live or have lived abroad.
Since 1989, the Swedish Woman of the Year Award has been awarded to Swedish women who have worked for Sweden in the world in various ways. The motivation for this year's award was:
"HRH Crown Princess Victoria stands for everything that SWEA identifies with: A contemporary, modern Sweden featuring openness, inclusion, environmental awareness and compassion. These are qualities that we take with us out into the world in global sistership across borders, where we now welcome our Crown Princess."

Chair of SWEA International Suzanne Southard opened the ceremony in the Large Studio at Millesgården with an introductory speech. Honorary Chair Princess Christina, Mrs Magnuson then read the motivation and welcomed The Crown Princess to receive the award, in the form of a brooch.
In her speech of thanks, The Crown Princess said:
Thank you for the wonderful award that you have chosen to give me. I am both delighted and proud! […] SWEA offers something that I know means a great deal to many expatriates. It offers access to a community, a network, that stretches across the entire world and is a source of friendship, support and expertise.
SWEA's members are ambassadors for our country in different ways. This is an important role, and I would like to thank each and every one of you for your efforts to promote Swedish culture, Swedish traditions and the Swedish language.
