Honoured guests,
I am very pleased to welcome the Honorary Consuls of Sweden to the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
We meet at a time of profound challenges. Recent developments in the Middle East and the ongoing Russian war against Ukraine threaten our societies, economies, and security, not least in the Baltic Sea region.
At such a moment, strong ties between our closest neighbours in the Nordic and Baltic Sea region are more important than ever.

You are vital to our international presence – promoting trade, advancing cultural connections, responding to crises, and assisting our citizens abroad.
Her Majesty the Queen and I greatly appreciate the warm welcome we receive from the Honorary Consuls whenever we travel around the world.
As you return to your posts, I encourage you to continue advancing Swedish interests. In doing so, you uphold the values that make Sweden a respected country around the world. For this, we are deeply grateful.
