Mr. Prime Minister,
Mr. President of the City Council,
Madam Mayor,
Ladies and gentlemen,
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the City of Stockholm for inviting me here today, on my birthday. And of course, for the generosity of hosting this luncheon for me and my international guests. I am especially pleased that our foreign visitors will have the opportunity to experience this wonderful building.
This is where we come together each year to celebrate the Nobel Prize laureates. To have the opportunity to celebrate my 80th birthday here therefore feels very special – and very much “at home”!
Ladies and gentlemen,
Let me take this opportunity to thank the City of Stockholm for excellent cooperation over the years. The capital city is an important partner, always welcoming and constructive to work with. I greatly value our collaboration in our shared mission for the good of the people of Stockholm and Sweden.
Last, but not least, I would like to thank the President of the City Council and the Mayor for this very festive and generous luncheon!
