H.M. Konungens tal vid totalförsvarskonferensen Stronger together i samband med statsbesöket i Polen
Polens armémuseum, Warszawa
(Det talade ordet gäller)
Mr. Mayor,
Ministers,
Excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen,
I have had the privilege of visiting Warsaw many times before, and I remember being deeply impressed by the strength of this city, and by the spirit of the Polish people. A spirit shaped by courage and a strong sense of responsibility for one another. These impressions have stayed with me.
Poland and Sweden share more than a sea between us: ferries and fiber, trade and talent, families, friendships and history. And maybe most importantly - our countries are committed to protecting our freedom by building a peaceful future for the next generation.
We meet at a time of profound challenges. Recent developments in the Middle East and the ongoing war in Ukraine threaten our societies, economies, and security. This is precisely when European resilience is put to the test. Resilient nations adapt quickly, support one another and learn fast. Ukraine is a clear example, having shown remarkable unity and determination to resist Russian aggression.
The growing insecurity in our region requires a response from all parts of society. From the government and the armed forces, but also from municipalities, businesses, ports and power grids, schools and hospitals, neighbours and volunteers. All represented in the Swedish delegation here.
Ladies and gentlemen,
We look forward to the discussions today, and to meeting old and new friends. Because resilience is not only based on systems and structures, but also on trust, cooperation and a willingness to stand united.
So let us continue to strengthen the bonds between our countries and between our peoples. Because in an uncertain world, one truth remains constant: We are stronger together.
Thank you!
