H.M. Konungens tal vid Singapore-Sweden Royal Business Forum
Fullerton Hotel, Singapore
(Det talade ordet gäller)
Deputy Prime Minister,
Ministers,
Ladies and gentlemen,
This visit marks a historic milestone in the relationship between Singapore and Sweden, being the first-ever state visit between our countries. It is also the first Singapore Sweden Royal Business Forum.
I am honoured to be joined on this visit by such a distinguished delegation. It includes representatives from over 50 Swedish companies, government agencies, educational institutions, and other organisations. I am equally pleased that the delegation has the opportunity to engage with you, our valued stakeholders. This reflects the long-standing relations between our industries, universities, and agencies, as well as a shared commitment to strengthen these ties even further.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mr Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, and the Singapore Business Federation. Your warm welcome and partnership have made this forum possible.
Ladies and gentlemen,
There is a clear foundation for Singapore and Sweden to build upon. Our trade and business ties are already well-established, with over 300 Swedish companies operating in Singapore and substantial trade flowing in both directions.
With a shared commitment to science and technology, Singapore and Sweden rank among the world’s top five most innovative countries. Our connections extend beyond industry, linking our researchers with academic institutions as well.
Sweden aims to be a trusted, long-term partner to Singapore in areas like energy transition, sustainable transportation, life sciences and defence. Our partnerships can drive solutions to both current and future challenges.
By strengthening the collaboration between Singapore and Sweden, we can create meaningful progress and shared success. We look forward to deepening our ties and exploring new business opportunities together.
Thank you.
