H.K.H. Kronprinsessans tal vid officiell välkomstmiddag i samband med besök till Vietnam

Presidentpalatset i Hanoi, Vietnam

(Det talade ordet gäller)

Madam Vice President,
Ministers,
Excellencies,
Ladies and gentlemen,

Thank you, Madam Vice President, for your warm words and for your hospitality.

It is a great honour for Prince Daniel and me to be received in such a splendid way here at the beautiful presidential palace. And to take part in the celebration of 50 years of diplomatic relations between Sweden and Vietnam.

In 2004, my parents, His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen, paid a state visit to Vietnam.

On their return to Sweden, they told me the most exciting stories about this country:
About its long standing friendship with Sweden.
About its impressive economic growth and development.
And of course, about its outstanding natural beauty.

Vietnam is one of the world’s biologically richest countries. Its biodiversity is an invaluable asset – to your country, and to our whole planet.

Unfortunately, our stay here is quite short this time. But I sincerely hope that Prince Daniel and I can come back in the future, to experience the sights and sounds of Vietnam’s green hills, its forests and its wildlife.

For now, however, we are looking very much forward to tomorrow’s Business Summit and to the rest of our visit.

As an advocate of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, I am especially excited to learn more about how Vietnam is finding solutions to combine rapid economic growth with sustainability. A matter of great importance, and urgency.

Ladies and gentlemen, Prince Daniel and I are delighted to be here in Vietnam in the company of the largest Swedish business delegation ever to your country.

It is my hope that many new contacts will be established over the next few days. And that this will open up new opportunities for cooperation and partnership.

We also look very much forward to welcoming your Prime Minister and his government colleagues to Sweden in just a few weeks.

Once again, Madam Vice President, thank you for this warm welcome.
