H.K.H. Prinsessan Madeleines tal vid invigningen av utställningen New Sweden Gallery

American-Swedish Historical Museum i Philadelphia, USA

(Det talade ordet gäller)

I am very pleased to be here at the American Swedish Historical Museum in the footsteps of so many in my family and at the opening of the new “Sven Gunnarsson and Jonas Nilsson New Sweden Gallery”.

My great grandfather King Gustaf VI Adolf, at that time still Crown Prince, laid the cornerstone of the museum in 1926 and my great uncle Prince Bertil was here at the official opening of the museum in 1938.

More recently my parents King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Sylvia and sister Crown Princess Victoria have also visited.

Thanks to Mrs. McFarland generosity we are opening this new state of the art gallery that presents and will preserve the history of the New Sweden Colony and the people who made it possible.
