Speech given by H.M. The King at a luncheon hosted by Japan Foreign Trade Council

Japan

(Det talade ordet gäller)

Excellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Mr. Sasaki,

Thank you for your kind words of welcome and for receiving us here today.

It is 27 years since I made my first State Visit to Japan. Since then I have been fortunate enough to travel to this fascinating country many times in different capacities. I have been able to see how business relations between our two countries year by year have grown deeper and closer.

The creation of Sony Ericsson is an excellent symbol of Swedish-Japanese business cooperation and the re-introduction of IKEA in this country is an illustration of the growing Japanese interest for Swedish products and lifestyle.

Therefore it feels very natural to be accompanied by two ministers of the Swedish Cabinet and an important business delegation during this visit.

I am convinced that our luncheon today will offer plenty of opportunities for discussing continued and extended successful business relations.

With these words, I would like to say thank you once again and propose a toast to the future cooperation and exchange between Japan and Sweden.
