On Wednesday 20 June, The King and Queen attended the official opening of Rio+20 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The official opening of Rio+20 was arranged by the UN together with the Brazilian government.
 
In the evening, The King and Queen attended a reception hosted by Brazil's President Dilma Rousseff.
