On Friday 24 February, a Te Deum service was held in the Royal Chapel. The King and Queen, Prince Carl Philip, Prince Daniel and the Westling family attended the service, together with representatives from official Sweden and staff from the Royal Court.
The Te Deum, a service of thanksgiving, is held to mark a royal birth. The Te Deum is a traditional church ceremony, which in the context of royal life takes place to mark major events in the Royal Court, such as christenings, birthdays, jubilees and other important ceremonial occasions. A Te Deum was last held to mark The King's 60th birthday on 30 April 2006.
