Princess Madeleine attends a memorial event for Raoul Wallenberg
On Wednesday 7 November, Princess Madeleine and Christopher O'Neill attended a memorial event for Raoul Wallenberg at the Yale Club of New York in New York, USA.
Princess Madeleine and Christopher O'Neill were welcomed by Rachel Oestreicher Bernheim, Chairman of the Raoul Wallenberg Committee of the United States
, and Carl Nisser, whose father was a cousin of Raoul Wallenberg.
The memorial event began with a welcome address by Rachel Oestreicher Bernheim, after which the Cantare Division of the Young People's Chorus of New York performed the Swedish and American national anthems.
The Seton Hall University Chamber Choir performed the prologue and the epilogue from the opera "Raoul", which was written by Gershon Kingsley with a libretto by Michael Kunze, after which a film about Raoul Wallenberg was shown.
The Princess presented the Raoul Wallenberg Civic Courage Award to New York City Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly.
