To mark WWF's global climate campaign, Earth Hour, the floodlighting was turned off at several of the royal palaces on Saturday 29 March between 20:30 and 21:30.

The floodlighting was turned off at the Royal Palace of Stockholm, Drottningholm Palace, the Chinese Pavilion, Gripsholm Castle and Rosendal Palace.

For safety reasons, however, the park and street lighting was not turned off at Royal Djurgården, Drottningholm Palace and Gripsholm Castle.
