On Wednesday 22 January, The King held an audience with Director General Helena Lindberg, Operational Manager Christian Di Schiena and Department Manager Anneli Bergholm Söder from the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) at the Royal Palace of Stockholm.
The King learnt about the agency's work. MSB develops and strengthens society's ability to deal with accidents and crises – locally, regionally and nationally. The agency also works internationally and has approximately a hundred employees in around 30 different countries. MSB recruits staffs from many different professional groups.
MSB reached the affected area just days after Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines in November 2013. MSB built three base camps in Tacloban, Ormoc and Guiuan.
During The King's visit to the Philippines with the World Scout Foundation on 24 to 26 January, he visited Tacloban to find out about work carried out by Scouts to help rebuild the city.
