On Monday 27 May, The King presented scholarships from the King Carl XVI Gustaf 50th Anniversary Fund for Science, Technology and the Environment to 16 young researchers.
The recipients received their scholarships from The King in the Bernadotte Library at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. The King gave a brief speech, in which he said: "You work with important issues which can make a real difference in the future. This scholarship should encourage you to continue your fantastic work." After the scholarship presentation, Professor Nancy Langston, holder of the King Carl XVI Gustaf Professorship of Environmental Science, gave a talk on the subject "Toxic fish — a history". Professor Langston is an expert within the internationally growing field of environmental history.
