On Monday 26 May, The King participated in WWF's annual meeting at Malma Gård on Värmdö. In connection with the annual meeting, The King opened the new Hemmesta Sjöäng wetlands area.
The King was met at Malma Gård by manager Maria Wågberg, WWF's Secretary General Håkan Wirtén and Chairman of the Board Axel Wenblad.
The King then welcomed the attendees to the annual meeting. The King is Honorary Chairman of the WWF Council.
After lunch, The King and the meeting participants travelled by coach to Hemmesta Sjöäng. During the journey, Tom Arnbom spoke about the project to create the wetlands.
The project began in 2012 on Värmdö, resulting in the creation of a new wetlands area in Stockholm County. The site has proven extremely popular with fish, birds and people. This spring, hundreds of pike and thousands of perch spawned there, and more than a hundred species of birds have been spotted.
At Hemmesta Sjöäng, The King opened the new wetlands area.
