The King and Queen visit the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi

From Friday 14 to Sunday 16 February, The King and Queen visited the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi to follow the Swedish competitors.

The Sunday began with The King and Queen watching the Swedish team beat Russia 8-4 in the men's curling.

The King and Queen then watched the men's relay team of Lars Nelson, Daniel Richardsson, Johan Olsson and Marcus Hellner winning Sweden's second gold of the games.

On the Saturday, The King and Queen first watched the ladies' Super G followed by the ladies' ski relay, in which Ida Ingemarsdotter, Emma Wikén, Anna Haag and Charlotte Kalla won gold. The King and Queen ended the day by watching the Swedish men beat Latvia 5-3 in the ice hockey.

The King and Queen began their visit to Sochi with a tour of the Olympic Village, where they met the ladies' and men's ice hockey teams. The King and Queen then watched cross-country skier Johan Olsson win another silver medal for Sweden and Daniel Richardsson win bronze in the 15 kilometre classic.

Switzerland's Dario Cologna won the gold medal. Friday concluded with The King and Queen watching the figure skating and Alexander Majorov, who competes for Luleå Figure Skating Club, beating his personal best with a score of 83.81 points.
