On Thursday 9 January, The King and Queen held an audience with Sweden's county governors at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. A commemorative book about The King and Queen's county visits during The King's jubilee year, 2013, was presented to The King and Queen.
In connection with The King's 40th jubilee, The King and Queen visited all of Sweden's 21 counties during 2013. The programme of visits began in Kalmar County on 5 March, concluding on 11 September in Jämtland County. Lars-Erik Lövdén, County Governor of Halland County, presented the commemorative book and said: "Thank you for a successful journey through Sweden! What I remember most from The King and Queen's visit is their enthusiasm for the visit and the tremendous support. Many of us have happy memories from the county visits, and we have compiled them in this book. The book reflects the local food and the programme, in words and pictures." The King then thanked all the county governors for their commitment, which had made the county visits so memorable. "We have experienced so much and met so many residents of Sweden's counties during these visits. Seeing what a rich country we live in — a country that we must defend and develop — has been a fantastic experience. We have seen Sweden's incredible drive and fighting spirit, not least in her entrepreneurship. What breadth! You have succeeded in identifying what makes each county unique. We have seen the difficulties you face, as well as the solutions to these problems. It has been so inspiring! A big thank you to all of you and your colleagues who have made our visits such a success."
