On Friday 25 January, The King and Queen and The Crown Princess Couple attended a seminar entitled "King Karl XIV Johan — a builder of society".
26 January marked the 250th anniversary of Jean Bernadotte's birth in Pau, France. The seminar was hosted by the Friends of the Bernadotte Museum, the French Embassy, the Swedish Academy, the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities, the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry, and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences.

Lars Lagerqvist, Chairman of the Friends of the Bernadotte Museum, gave a welcome address and The King opened the seminar with a speech. There then followed a number of talks about King Karl XIV Johan's rein, on subjects such as his work in connection with agriculture, healthcare and reforming the Swedish state finances between 1810 and 1844. The seminar was concluded by the French ambassador, Jean-Pierre Lacroix.
