On Wednesday 25 September, The Crown Princess held an audience with the Swedish Cancer Society at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. The Crown Princess is the official patron of the Swedish Cancer Society's 2013 Pink Ribbon campaign.
During the audience, the Swedish Cancer Society's Secretary General Stefan Bergh talked about the society and the Pink Ribbon campaign. Elizabeth Johansson, Press Officer for the society's information and support line, spoke about cancer in Sweden and the world, and Chairman of the Research Council Klas Kärre spoke about cancer research.
 
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women, with more than 7,500 women being diagnosed with the disease every year in Sweden. Today, more than 90,000 women in Sweden are suffering from or have survived breast cancer. Each year around 1,400 women die from breast cancer.
 
The Pink Ribbon campaign will run throughout October with the aim of fighting breast cancer by raising money for cancer research, raising awareness of the disease and stimulating debate.
