The Crown Princess Couple attend the International Swede of the Year Award

On Wednesday 20 August, The Crown Princess presented the International Swede of the Year Award to Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon, founders of the music streaming service Spotify.

Swedes Worldwide has presented the International Swede of the Year Award since 1988. The Crown Princess Couple attended the lunch which was held at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm in connection with the ceremony. The Crown Princess then presented the International Swede of the Year Award 2014 to Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon, founders of Spotifyexternal link, opens in new window, an online music streaming service.

Swedes Worldwide


Swedes Worldwide is an organisation that deals with issues relating to Swedish citizens living outside Sweden. There are currently around 550,000 such Swedes.

The organisation was founded in 1938 to deal with Swedish citizens who wished to return to Sweden before the outbreak of the Second World War.
