On Thursday 18 April, The Crown Princess attended the Sweden-America Foundation's annual meeting and scholarship presentation at the Canadian Embassy in Stockholm.
During the annual meeting, Canada's ambassador Kenneth Macartney spoke about Swedish-Canadian friendship. The USA's ambassador Mark Brzezinski gave a speech to the scholarship recipients, and Mats Sundin spoke about a new research collaboration. The Crown Princess presented the Sweden-America Foundation's scholarships to 26 students, who are being given the opportunity to study in North America. The Sweden-America Foundation was founded in 1919, after the end of the First World War, to increase and strengthen links between Sweden and the USA. Canada joined the foundation in 1950.
