State Visit from Turkey — day 3
On Wednesday 13 March, President Gül's three-day state visit to Sweden ended.
The Presidential couple began the day at the Riksdag, where President Gül gave a speech. They were met at the Riksdag by Speaker Per Westerberg. The Presidential couple then travelled to Uppsala, where they were received by County Governor Peter Egardt. A lunch was then served at Uppsala Castle
, attended by The King and Queen.
After lunch, The King and President Gül visited ÅAC Microtec, a company that manufactures microelectronics for applications such as satellites. The visit was hosted by CEO Kjell Bohlin. ÅAC's customers include NASA, the European Space Agency and the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration.
At the same time, The Queen and Mrs Gül visited the Linnaeus Museum. The museum was formerly the home of Carl Linnaeus, and is located next to the Linnaeus Garden in Uppsala. The Linnaeus Museum is run by the Swedish Linnaeus Society.
The King and Queen and the Presidential couple then saw a selection of books from the Turkish book collection at Uppsala University Library. The library was founded in 1620 by King Gustav II Adolf.
The King and Queen and the Presidential couple then said their goodbyes.
