On Saturday 15 June, Prince Daniel met EURO 2013 volunteers at the Solna Hall and the Swedish national women's football team at Bosön, Lidingö, ahead of the UEFA Women's EURO 2013 tournament.
At the Solna Hall, Prince Daniel was met by Göran Havik, Head of the Swedish Football Association, and saw 120 volunteers being trained in CPR. The Prince then continued to the Bosön training ground to watch the national team in training. Team captain Pia Sundhage explained about tactics and training. Prince Daniel will attend the official opening match of the UEFA Women's EURO, between Sweden and Denmark, at Gamla Ullevi in Gothenburg on Wednesday 10 July. Prince Daniel is patron of the tournament and the Make A Healthy Heart Your Goal campaign, a collaboration between the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation, the Swedish Football Association, UEFA and the World Heart Federation. In connection with this, all the event's volunteers are receiving CPR training.
The UEFA Women's EURO 2013 tournament will take place on 10-28 July, and will be played in Gothenburg, Halmstad, Växjö, Kalmar, Norrköping, Linköping and Solna. FIFA has ranked the Swedish national women's team number six, behind France and ahead of Canada. The USA is top of the list. Sweden has played in six world championships, coming second once (2003) and third twice (1991 and 2011).
