On Monday 16 June, Prince Daniel presented the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation's major research grant to Professor Jan Nilsson and docent Isabel Gonçalves at Lund University. Prince Daniel is Honorary Chairman of the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation.

Each year, the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundationexternal link, opens in new window awards a research grant of SEK 15 million, which is allocated over three years. The grant is awarded for pioneering Swedish cardiopulmonary research which is deemed to be of great significance to patients. This year's grant was presented to Professor Jan Nilsson and docent Isabel Gonçalves at Lund University for their work to develop a vaccine against arteriosclerosis which reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Prince Daniel has presented the Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation's major research grant since 2012.
