On Tuesday 28 May, Prince Carl Philip attended the opening of the World Veteran Federation's Peace & Security Summit at Fotografiska in Stockholm.
Prince Carl Philip was welcomed by Hamid Ibrahim, President of the World Veteran Federation, and Bengt Wiktorsson, President of the Peace Berets of Sweden. The Prince gave a brief speech. The Peace Berets of Sweden is a member of the World Veteran Federation, and hosted this year's Peace & Security Summit. The theme for the summit was "How can veterans contribute to peace and security in society?", and the keynote speakers were Hans Blix, former UN weapons inspector in Iraq, and Jan Egeland, Director of Human Rights Watch Europe. The Prince is patron of the Peace Berets of Sweden. The aim of the association is to maintain and develop the comradeship formed during foreign service as a peacekeeper with the UN or on UN-sanctioned missions.
